I promised a few photos when I picked up my M1 a few weeks ago.  She wasn't too photogenic with the bare walnut stock. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been slowly applying tung oil on the stocks.  Each coat was given several days to cure.  All the metal was stripped off except the band around the rear handguard (which I taped over carefully).

I'm going to start shopping for accessories.  I don't want to go wild (yet), but if you had about $200 to spend on tools, spare parts, or accessories, how would you spend it?  (caveat:  I have ammo covered.)

Now that the rifle is back together, here are the results of my work:

Thank you.

It was on the rifle when I picked it off the rack.  The tag is just a standard manilla tag with "SA Service Special JC" scribbled on it... it's not a piece of vintage paperwork or anything.

Nice Garand

Why would you want a Tag?

Looks a hell of a sight better than the junkers that sold at a local estate auction here on Tuesday.

Beat-to-shit and four of them went for $750 to $900!!
