I have a SOCOM & a SOCOMII . I want to mount a traditional scope over the receiver. Is there a good scope mount out there for under $200.00?
I like to use "sufficient" instead of "correct" when discussing the torque specification for mounting a side three point scope mount. Bill Bassett says 22 in-lb is all that is needed for his scope mounts. On other brands, 70 in-lb is all you need. That's according to Shooters Den and Smith Enterprise, Inc. The instructions for the A.R.M.S. # 18 mount state 100 in-lb but that may lead to the mount canting to one side or the cam bolt will shear if the installer is a hair too heavy handed.
Sadlak,Smith Ent. You can't really go wrong with one of these 2. Sadlak may be a better choice for a Springfield because you reciever may be out of spec slightly in the groove that the mount fit's to. Sadlak will custom fit the mount to your reciever. I would also recommend steel as well.
