I have a M1A loaded stainless with the smith vortex, can i install the MSTN brake or the like on it? Are the thread pitch/size the same as a AR10? thanks

AFAIK, the M14/M1A barrel has a unique muzzle thread pitch. The USGI barrel drawing indicates 0.595 - 32 NS - 3A pitch diameter 0.5747 " - 0.0027 ".

Correct, the MSTN AR-10 muzzle brake is not machined for a M14 barrel.
