I just ordered a sa correct grade the other day and was wondering if you get more rifle for your money from the cmp. are the cmp guns worth more then what they sell them for?

In most cases, yes. The fact that you see folks reselling CMP rifles and ammunition at gun shows indicates this.

Unless someone is willing to give you a killer deal in a private sale,  you won't get a better commercial deal on a genuine M-1 Garand than the CMP.

Best value is a CMP rifle.  You can find a good Garand at a good price at other places, but they are few and far between.

The CMP is very honest with their rifle grading and assessments, you will certainly get your moneys worth and generally more than your moneys worth. If you receive a rifle and you find problems with it, the CMP is very good about working with the purchaser and making good on the problem. You will rarely get that from an individual seller. Most of the CMP rifles that end up at the gun shows or on consignment at the gun shops are well in access of the price that the CMP charges.

you will NEVER get a garand at a gun show for the price that CMP charges.  There grading system usually favors the buyer.  With a little TLC, you can really turn them into beautiful , great shooting rifles.

If you get one, just remove all the cosmoline, grease and oil it, replace the springs and pins (cheap and easy), and you're gtg forever.

IMHO  though....... you get more for the money with s "service" grade, than a "correct".  You can usually make them correct for a lot less than the $400 price difference.

I bought a H&R "Special" back in December from the CMP for $750.00, probably fetch close to $1000.00 now...at least that is what I have observed.
