| Anyone been to CMP North within the past few weeks or so? Do they have a big selection of M1's to pick from and what are the prices for a decent to good condition M1 Garand? |
|
I am going there in April, Field Grade are $495, Service Grade are $595. http://www.thecmp.org/m1garand.htm |
|
Would there be a way to have someone pick up a rifle for me from there? I'd like to purchase one, but am a Little shaky about not being able to pick it myself. I live in TX and if there was someone willing to pick one up for me I would gladly throw them some cash.
Thanks, Daniel |

All the Lake City loose was gone, and there was a lot of rough looking SA field grades, two racks of HRA service grades, and some Winchester field grades for $695!!!! They did have plenty of M1 carbines though. It was packed with people. Oh, and don't forget you Birth certificate or passport copy. I wa lucky a freind had keys to my house |

Did they have any of the Greek in en bloc's? They were out of it but had plenty of Greek without the clips on Wed when I went but said they may get some in Fri so I was curious if they did get it cause it would suck to drive 3 hours there to find out they didn't get it

I have been over to the North store twice since the the first of the year, went last week and found another Springfield service grade in magnificent condition. (bought one similar in January as well). Both M1's I have acquired from them this year are in far better condition that the average service grade rifle, near 100% metal finish, very good wood, 1/1 on the muzzle and throat erosion. Be patient if you go over, both times while I was there they had brought more rifles out to put in the racks, and their was a hand full of them in similar condition available both times. |

The stores are closed for the month of March.
Well 1/2 of the month anyway. Linky |

Wow, that was close. I am planning to be there on April 3, they open back up on April 1st. Oh, and Service Grade's are $595 + $22.95 shipping. OH & AL residents pay sales tax at the respective stores. |

I am sure they aren't going to just charge me 595.... |

Quoted: Resident or not you will be charged sales tax if you buy at the stores. You do have the option of picking it out then shipping it. That way you pay shipping $22.00 which is cheaper than sales tax That makes sense, yeah I would think it would be worth just shipping it back. |

It's luck of the draw when you walk thru the doors there, but they have had some consistently nice service grade rifles lately. The racks have been clear full recently of M1's in service grade, most of them pretty nice, a few of them exceptional, and those are the first ones that get snatched up when they open the doors in the am. FWIW, when you go, get there early and I hope you come home with a nice one. |

sales tax is 6.5% If you drive a long way, pay the sales tax. Or if you buy a bunch of ammo, pay the sales tax. Other than that, ship it. What does how far you drive have to do with it? Sounds like you have it backwards. If you live out of state its cheaper to ship |

If the guy is going there anyway to handpick ( which is what this discussuion is about) what difference would it make? ![]() Bingo. I drove 7 hrs to hand pick, why the fuck would I risk shipping it and having it damaged? Plus it balanced out by the amount of ammo I bought, so I'm pretty sure I broke even. |

Just got back, made a fast trip. Got there a few minutes before they opened. Was probably ten guys in line in front of me and ten behind. Looked at the barreled receivers and pasted on them. I didnt care about the barrels as I just need reciever but they were all pretty heavily pitted.
Didnt even look at anything else as I knew I would end up buying a something . Picked up 8 cans of Ball and 5000rds of .22 Didnt see any Correct Grades |

Was up there about at opening yesterday (March 7th).
Most everyone went straight for the FG SA M1s and SG HRA M1s. Within 30 minutes, all the HRA Service Grades were gone and all the Field Grades worth getting were gone. There were probably 40-60 Field and rack grades SAs left up there, but none took my gauge less than 2. Also had: 2 poor grade Krags- these were wall hangers 6 salvage grade M1917s- all had awful bores 6 M1903 Mark Is- rough with bad bores 4 S-C M1903A3- as above 6 Rem M1903A3- as above 2 M1Ds The carbines were the real bounty. They had some very nice Service grades in different manufacturers there. I ended up with a pretty 1944 Inland sitting in a NPM stock and gauging a 0 at the muzzle. Pics to come. Oh yeah, everyone (myself included) was carrying out HXP by the pallet.... |
