We all know that Ol Painless debunked the frozen clothing penetration issue.

In case anyone wanted to know here is the energy calculations.

I bought an M1 carbine back in the late 1980's when they were cheap cheap.

First thing I did was get me a  5 shot mag and some softpoint hunting ammo.

I used it with fair success hunting deer and coyotes. The deer are not huge around here, and never had any issues knocking them down. However it's definately not a long range firearm. The .30-30 Winchester I also owned then(still have both of those guns) easily outpreforming the M1 carbine at 200 yards.

Where did you find a 110 grain .30 caliber FMJ with a ballistic coefficient of 0.450?

Speer claims 0.179 for their bullet of this weight and type. Hornady claims 0.178.

Guess I shouldn't use my M-1 with a 3x9 scope as my main sniper rifle.
