How does it attach?

It just locks into the clip charger. It has a spring loaded detent that locks it in to prevent it from coming out. The detent is pressed in (right side below the charger) to remove it. When in place, it isn't in the way and doesn't get in the way of ejection. The weapon can be single loaded with the M3 in place. It isn't a snug fit. It just rattles around. It is VERY useful when shooting in the rain. The water on the bolt doesn't get flung into your eye or glasses  when the bolt is retracted with each shot. Market value is about $5 +/-$2. It is  part of the blank firing kit. The other part fits over the muzzle so that enough back pressure is in the system to activate the gas system. The shield is to prevent unburnt powder and gasses from coming back into the shooters face. It is also an excellent safety system to protect the shooter from a case head separation or ruptured case.

My first was several years ago at SARCO for $3. My second was on Competitors Row at Cp Perry for $4. Others I've seen at Gun Shows for about $4 to $6.
