Alright, I searched for this and came up with nothing.  I didn't go through the archives, so I apologize if something is there that I overlooked.  I have narrowed my choices on a first M1A down to a SAI Scout in the black stock.  I have seen some pictures of people putting what look like 4x scopes on the handguard rail.

What are good scopes for this purpose?

Thanks.

Thanks--exactly what I was looking for.  My search-fu is weak.

I have a ACOG TA11E on my M1A Scout / with full cluster rail, had to send it back to Springfield for that.

The TA11E is 3.5x calobrated for .308 with built in drop compensator to 800. Works great for me. You could even put a DOC OPTIC on it for CQB if you wanted dual applications.

You can email it to me and I can post it for you (give a man a fish)

or

Open a photobucket account and upload it to photobucket.  Click on the picture button (mountain w/ the sun) and copy and paste the photobucket link into the box. (teach a man to fish)

That's cool.  Looks like a good medium range rifle.  Getting a good cheek weld looks a little tough though.
