| Anyone know what pitch the Gov't barrels are threaded? Has anyone here suppressed a m14 or semi-auto variant? Also, does anyone know where to find good subsonic .308 ammo or has anyone worked up a good load? Thanks. |

NFA Rules apply to sound suppressors, yada, yada. Per USGI drawing F7790190, the M14 barrel muzzle thread dimensions are 0.595 - 32 NS - 3A Major diameter 0.5950 - 0.0060 Pitch diameter 0.5747 - 0.0027 Minor diameter 0.5567 maximum I have a report from a M14 fan put put an AAC 762SD on a USGI Harrington & Richardson chromium plated barrel. The muzzle crown was not squared so it made the suppressor slightly cocked. This resulted in very large (24 ") groups at 100 yards. After squaring the muzzle crown, the suppressor went on straight and it shot much, much better. He also had AAC check the suppressor. It is bored perfectly straight. He also mentioned that a medium or heavyweight barrel would be much more rigid for supporting a suppressor. I have two M14 sound suppressors, a Fisher Enterprises M14DC and an Advanced Armament 762SD. I'm working on a scoped M1A project. My rifle will be suppressed and it will have a medium weight barrel. There are a couple specialty ammunition manufacturers out there that sell subsonic .308 cartridges. I use TTI Armory 170 grain subsonic .308. HTH |

I believe the pitch is 9/16x24. I have mine YHM QD Phantom on the way. A buddy of mine has the HTG .308 suppressor on his polytech. As far as subsonic rounds go, i haven't seen much, but I haven't really been looking either due to price and the fact that I never use the stuff I had with my ARs. I thought TTI no longer existed!? |

I can't comment on the thread pitch.. but I do know that Gemtech makes a QD can and mount for the M1a. http://gkasper.smugmug.com/photos/334814890_UerT4-L.jpg http://gkasper.smugmug.com/photos/334807255_88mJw-L.jpg |
