Hey everyone, was looking to get a M14 scope mount for my older Polytech. Most scope mounts are 2 or 3 point mounts though.

First it does not have the tapped hole on top of the reciever. Just has the one big one on the side like usual.

Second the beaver tail in the back has a peace of metal that is slid in and appears to be pinned in place. I tried to punch out the pin to remove the peace of metal (appears to be a brass deflector?) but the pin would not budge, making me think it is permanent.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks -- Matt.

Once you get the cartridge clip guide out, you won't have any problems with fitting a side two or three point scope mount to the Poly Technologies receiver. Try soaking the pin with Kroil overnight.  Then run the rear sight aperture all the way to the bottom.  Next, field strip the rifle and turn the receiver upside down.  Use a 3/32 " pin punch and mallet to tap the cartridge clip pin out from the underside of the receiver.  Then use the mallet to remove the cartridge clip from the receiver dove tail by tapping the cartridge clip from the operating rod handle side towards the bolt lock side.
