I am an Army ROTC cadet and I've really wanted to get an M1 Garand. Does being a contracted ROTC cadet mean I can qualify as military service under CMP? (I have a military ID) Or do I still have to sign up in an affiliated organization with CMP?

Anything?

I'd go out on a limb and say no.  ROTC does not prove that you've had firearms related experience.  Give them a call to be sure; you might be able to get away with it.  Phone # in the link.

www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/eligibility_requirements.htm

ETA:  It will probably cover the CMP Affiliated Organization part.

ROTC is not military service, even with ID.  Join the NRA or a state rifle association.

Membership in the NRA and/or a state rifle association accomplishes nothing in terms of purchasing from the CMP.  Yes, a contracted ROTC cadet with a military commitment and ID is sufficient for the membership and marksmanship requirements.

Your military ID will work.  It will actually satisfy the proof of marksmanship requirement as well.  I've infected several of my cadets with Garanditis and 4 have ordered rifles and others are waiting to get their first paycheck to order theirs.  I'm doing my part to spread the infection!  We just got in a big ammo order that we went together on.  The FedEx man was NOT happy!

Forgot to add it's great to see interest in shooting. My ROTC alma mater thought I was a psycho because I owned guns I double checked again and it did say ARMY ROTC on the front door. All in the while we learned how to efficeintly stage a kill via FM 7-8.
I tried to get interest in my ROTC program by bringing out cadets to serve as target pullers at our highpower match...they were only in it for money....

Just mailed out the CMP paperwork today.

Good deal.  Now be patient.  It will take awhile for them to send you the 21 day email, and that only tells you that the order was received.  Pay attention to the CMP forums for progress on other people's orders.

What did you order, if you don't mind me asking?

Only partially correct....

Membership in NRA gives you nothing with the CMP....   BUT  most state rifle orgs ARE CMP affiliate clubs... they have to be to sponsor and hold the CMP EIC events (i.e. "LEG" matches), as most of them do.   Check with your state rifle org to be sure....
