Looking for general ideas. Thinking of Selling off more firearms.

I have an M1a (obviously) it was made in the early 80's and has all GI parts. NM marked barrel.

The stock I lost in a move but now wears a 35$ beater from Freds with one of those Rubber extensions that replace the GI flap/buttplate.

Any way its all "PRE_BAN" if that means anything (maybe NY?)

I have a10-12 GI mags and of course the traditional AR15.com stash of 3-4K rounds of ammo I have been buying for years. RadwayGreen , Maylay, USGI, FN etc.

well in all honesty whats the rifle worth w/mags ? OH..I have the GI cleaning kit somplace as well.

Maybe shot it 2x in 14 years.

It's near worthless,..not of interest to anybody really,...after all it's used, same with the ammo, once you take it off the lot, the value goes right down the drain.

I'll give you 400 bucks for the whole thing right now shipped to my FFL.

Just kidding, preban's with usgi parts are in demand, but there are alot guys that are just unrealistic about what someone will pay, hense, the true value.
You should do some research up and down the EE and look at prices people are selling and people are actually willing to pay. Look on Gunbroker too and you'll get an idea. Very low prices sell faster of course and you'll find guys looking to offer not even close to what's it's worth hoping you'll bite and be the sucker of the day.

I'd sell the rifle and mags seperate from ammo. The ammo is even harder to come by and people should snap it up. I'd offer you money for the rifle myself right now, but until my PTR91 sells I don't have it all to put towards it.

You can check ammo prices too and be fair in offering it up for sale.

You say it's an M1A , is it a Springfield , or something else and your just calling it
an M1A ? Some makes draw more money and some less .

How many rounds through the gun , and whats it overall condition 70, 80 , 90 % ?

The Mags are probably worth $200-300 depending on markings .

The ammo is worth at least $300 per 1000 in today's market , probably more .

A private sale will get you the best money as you know if you've ever tried to
sell a gun to a gun store , but with only your description and no pics to go by .
I would expect the entire package to go for somewhere around $2500 -3000 .

thanks,

I agree that i do see alot of high prices on M1a's on EE, Gunbroker, Auction arms, etc.

The gun is a springfield Armory. I bought it second hand about 7-10 days after the Ban went into effect in 1993?

I lived on Long Island then and the laws.....well you know panic buys etc.

I would say I put maybe 200-250 rounds through it . The condition i would rate as excelent or at worst vg+

didnt think 7.62 was that high but I guess so these days. I never actually shot ball just the remington yellow box quasi- USGI stuff. Well I will do some research and probably post it. I just remember back in the day when my handle was tloc45 under the old web site the pre-ban AR15 madness.

does anyone remember the name of that guy who lived with his mom and did gunsmithing in the basement ?

LOL remeber F-U AROCK !!! LOL .........................good times...good times
