I know nothing about digital cameras.  I see lots of posts including photo's of some fine rifles.  What Camera specifically would ya'll recommend someone completly ignorant of digital photograpy to buy?  I know this may seem like a strange question in this forum, but where better to get information on taking pictures of weapons than here?  We share our knowledge of the rifles we love, i need a little help on the photograpy end.  I don't need  a high end full professional model camera, just one good for taking close ups of the weapons/ammunition associated with my hobby/addictions(nothing sick ment there you know what i mean).  I'm not interested in panoramic scenery views just the aforementioned close ups.  Any recommendations?  Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

I have had mine ( Fuji f440 4 megapixels ) for a couple of years and I get a lot of use out of it because it smalller that  a pack of smokes and easy to carry around.

In general, let price and megapixels be your guide. The higher the megapixels the more resolution you will get. If I was buying one today I would get a higher than the 4 megpxls I have now. All should come with some kind of editing sofware that alows you to manipulate the images. Make sure your computer can handle storing lots of images because they add up and can slow an old machine down. All have optional high memory cards. Get one when you buy the camera that can hold a couple hundred shots at full resolution.

Oh and look for a camera with "macro" focus to get up close for realy detailed images.

For taking pics of firearms in ambient light with no flash ( this is when they look the best_ you should think about an inexpensive tripod to hold steadt for the longer exposure time.

Lots of experimenting is in order.

Good luck and Get going.
