yes

All you need if yo have your DD214 is a copy of your DL. Make a copy of the DD214 and a copy of your DL, take them along with your order form (print off from CMP web site) to your bank and have them notorized. In your order you then need to state the "shooting organization" you have a memebership with. I use Garand Collectors Association and included my membership number.

You're good to go.

+1, I used a copy of my military ID (I'm in the USAR-if you are a Vet, your DD214 will work as well) and that covered both my association and shooting proficiency requirements; fill out the paperwork and take it to your local bank and have it notarized; once that's done, mail the paperwork and you should be Kosher.

it took 6 days, from the CMP receiving the form to the rifle arriving at my door.

They also require a birth certificate unless you were/are a military officer. My buddy and I were in the South Store yesterday and it was his first time. All he showed was his army retired I.D. card and driver's license and he was good to go. He is a retired warrant officer.

Sorry, but no.   Non-US citizens can join as enlisted personnel in the US Armed Forces.  A DD-214 will show age and excuse you from showing marksmanship proficiency but does not prove citizenship.

You must stil prove US citizenship with either a birth certificate, US Passport, or US Naturalization papers.

Now, having said that....  Is the DD-214 used only for enlisted personnel???  If so, then it's a blanket "no" on proof of citizenship.   Officers, OTOH, must be a US citizen, so if the DD-214 is also used for officers then it may prove citizenship for them (assuming they can also prove they were an officer).   Was there another form used to show honorable discharge from service for officers???   If so, that would most certainly be usable....  Others more knowledgeable about this particular aspect invited to chime in....

Best to all,
Swampy

Swampy, maybe all I needed was my DD214 was becaue of the time period when I was in the mil 74-77. I wonder if the dates have anything to do with this?

I just got an email form CMP that my woodless is being shipped, all I did was send in my DD214, dl and order form with them beiung notarized.
Jmurman

Maybe a phone call to CMP would clarify things a bit.
