I have tried several. EZ strap-on, Rooster33 etc ... The best one is the adjustable rest on the SAGE M14ALCS.  IMHO, the best one for a fixed stock is pictured on my Hybrid MK14 SEI below.  I have no idea who makes it, but it has three different raised combs that are secured by Velcro and the whole thing is strapped on tight and will not slip. HTH ~ |
If you are using a Scout scope, and not a conventional scope, check that the scope is as low as possible in relation to the bore of the barrel. You may need to change mounts. If so, I recommend Leupold QRW mounts, with their levers mounted on the shooter's left. The whole Scout concept is founded on handiness. Having to use a cheek riser, and remove same to use the iron back-up sights goes against this. In any event, having the scope as low as possible is always good policy, and makes a surprising difference in how the firearm feels and shoots. If you are mounting another type of optic, or using conventionally-mounted optics, disregard the above, except for the last sentence. DSA sells an adjustable QD cheek riser made by ITC, IIRC. It will do. |
