SOCOM > M1 / M14 / M1 Carbine

Hey guys I have a chance to buy a LNIB SOCOM for less than $1100. I have checked it out thoroughly and dont even see scratch on this thing. Should I buy this thing? I am looking for a new patrol rifle and would like to hear from any of you who carry one in this fashion. Also what kind of ammo would you recommend for duty carry (we have to buy our own)

I prefer the 18.0" M14 type, but that's not a bad price on the 16.0".
If you can deal with the dedicated muzzle brake you should be OK.
155 grain Hornady AMAX is the shit for these rifles.

I seem to recall a hatred for this weapon due to inferior parts used to make it. Something about not using quality G.I. parts? Someone help me out here...

While I personally am not a fan of the SOCOM's, that price is at the point where it would be hard not to buy a SAI product. Good luck and let us know how she runs.

BUY IT! I have one and love it. paid $1450 NIB that's a deal/steal you have! I shoot mine almost more than my AR's. Put about 500 rounds of various ammo through it so far and not a single problem of any kind. Better suck up some surplus ammo though!

That is a great price, I wish that's all I paid for my Socom2 with the rail that I took off immediatley (while I was still at the gun store) and it is sitting in the back of the safe. Love the Socom though.
