Very interesting. May I give you a couple of more slants. A war has been going on in Europe for 1.5 years. If you extrapolate, the Marine Corp will take over another year to have a pile of m1s in inventory. Of course, if there is a war or a loss in training, more will be needed. Now go back to 09/11/01. The LA Times is running articles about a shortage of 9mm ammo for training. The stocks of small arms ammo used in the First Gulf War have not been replaced. The military is short on long range precision rifles. At this point, it is estimated that it will take another 4 years (despite outside contracts of over $600 million) to get the inventory of US small arms ammo up to where it should be. I guess it proves that there is no institutional memory

Consider this: It took the US 1365 days to completely destroy Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. That was done starting with an Army of less than 1 million , fewer than 1000 combat ready aircraft, and a several damaged fleet. In addition, the nation was in the grips of the great depression. So, starting from almost zero, the US took 1365 days win WWII. We are now 1690 days into a "war on terror" and there is no clear victory in sight. We started with the mightiest military in the world and a robust economy and are fighting enemies that aren't worthy to kiss the ass of Nazi Germany. We are spending BILLIONS of dollars a month on military operations and directly and indirectly related support. You can't tell me that this war isn't being dragged out for the financial gain of the PTB. |
Yeah, except there's a giant difference between going to a formal war, and fighting terrorists. No one in the world could do the same job we're doing over there. |
My comments were not directed at my fellow warriors. It is the gas bags in DC that I am referring to. |
