Yes, they still make and sell semi-automatic M14 receivers.  They build semi-automatic M14 rifles by customer request.

now next question, are they worth a darn?  i want to get a standard model M1A.  would these be a step up from SA?

Armscorp will likely use a high percentage of USGI parts in building a M14 rifle compared to Springfield Armory, Inc. in its M1A rifle today.  Armscorp's rack grade rifle is $1895.00 per the web site.  Other complete rifle models are more expensive (see www.armscorpusa.com ).  Are USGI parts worth the extra dinero in today's market?  As expensive as USGI parts are today, my personal opinion is no.  Yes, you MAY have an issue or two with a NIB M1A but SA, Inc. stands behind their product and will make it right.

To me, the best deal going is to buy a SA, Inc. M1A safe queen.  Buy a M1A that's had 200 rounds through it and has sat in a safe for years.  If you can't find one of those, buy a NIB standard model M1A, shim the gas cylinder, install a USGI extractor then continue mission.

What do you mean by "shim" the gas cylinder?

I've got a NIB SA coming from SC that I picked up for a decent price...the waiting is killing me!
