I am finishing my first M1A project and need help with the connector lock and pin. Is the connector lock only suppose to go in the first half of the receiver? The hole is not big enough for the lock to go into the second half. What keeps the lock from backing out, the stock? Is this meant as an aide to takedown?
Thanks for the help!

the lock only goes in 1/2 the way and yes the stock keeps it from backing out.

Heads up.

This true for GI stocks but not the case if your action is in a SAGE.

I am in the process of swapping out my short Chinese lock
that SAI built my rifle with and installing the longer GI lock.

I will also fix something over the lock or on the
stock to prevent the lock from backing out again.

IMHO, the op rod and spring are not meant to come out with the mag.
