I was at a local gun store and they  had on consignment a Winchester M1 and was wondering how much it is worth. I searched on Gunbroker and came up with a couple for about $1200 each.

The one at the store is far from being correct as only the receiver is Win the rest of the parts are SA, I didn't look at the sights but the trigger group, op rod and bolt are all SA. The barrel is stamped with a real small date of 3-53 and couldn't make out any other marks.

Finish is about 85% and the stock is in good shape with the P stamp and no other markings.

I am going to have to invest in some gages if I keep buying these things as the value is dependant on a lot of factors including MW and TE.

They want $775  for it and just got it in so I don't know how flexible the price is

Just a couple of questions:

Is the price in line with the mix of parts? I realize with out MW and TE readings it is a crap shoot.

I haven't seen any import marks on this one and was wondering where they might be stamped?

Is a Winchester receiver worth that much more?(saw a stripped one on Gunbroker for $400)

Edit: serial number is 1216689 which puts it made in July '42
