I bought an M1a tonite and was told it had a chromed lined barrel and that Springfield doesn't do that anymore...how true is that? I'm new to all this...

IIRC, the new commercial made barrels SA is using right now are not chrome lined. Recently they had made a special GI series that had chrome-lined USGI barrels on them. You may have gotten one of those. The description of the M1A Standard at Davidson's still lists them as chrome lined, but the SA website does not mention anything about a chrome bore on the M1A standard page. They used to mention this before, but not for quite a while.

That's exactly what they told me it was. They had a big Springfield booth set up in the middle of the store, and had people that worked for Springfield selling rifles and pistols. It's a "used" rifle but still had the tag on the trigger from the factory with a date of 10/2000 written on it. Had all the headspace measurements and everything. I probably should have read the tag alittle better and paid attention to the rest of the rifle instead of just buying it and leaving it at that

When you pick up your rifle, pull the op-rod back and look at the barrel marking that become visible. Post the markings and we'll tell you who made the barrel. If its a GI barrel it will also have markings on top of the barrel, under the HG so you can check that when you break the rifle down for the first time.
