Anyone have pics of an M1A with the A.R.M.S.® #18 M21/14 Scope Mount with an EoTech?

How about with the Smith Enterprises M14 / M1A See-Thru M-1913 Picatinny Mount and an EoTech?

As I see it, the Pros and Cons of each are:

A.R.M.S.® #18:

PRO: Lower mount, $175
CON: Requires optics be taken off for irons.

Smith Enterprises Picatinny Mount:

PRO: "See-thru" channel, so irons always an option.
CON: Sits higher than Arms, $225.00.

The ARMs I believe will co-witness an Aimpoint...but not an EoTech (Anyone?)

Thanks inadvance!

If I knew how to post pics on here, I'd put one up of my Scout with an ARMS 18 and my new Trijicon TA01B .308 - sweet set up that I use at work.  And funny thing - with my rear sight almost lowered all the way, which is where my 100 yd zero is anyway, I can see it through the ARMS mount and get good center mass hits all day long, but I can't elevate it because the mount obscures it.

My thought is, it gives me back up irons at 100 yds, and my primary optic is my Trijicon with calibrate reticles out to 800 yds anyway, and on the really really really off chance my scope fails, my target isn't around 100 yds or so, I can just pop it off with the ARMS quick disconnect mount anyway and there are the sights.

If someone wants to send me their email address, I'll send them a pic of this setup and they can post it if they know how...it's also got the new McMillan SpecWar folder with rail stock on it as well.

The Smith and ARMs will have see through mounts. None will co-witness.

Thanks Mark. I had heard that the ARMs rested pretty low. Does it have the channel running through it lengthwise for irons? I know the Smith does...not sure about the ARMs.

I have an old style ARMS # 18 scope mount.  I fitted it on one of my M1A rifles.  Even with the rear sight aperture bottomed out I can still use the iron sights with the ARMS # 18 mount with no rings attached.

I think for the money and weight I'll go for a Law Stock w/ an ARMS or a SMITH platform.

Sounds promising....Maybe an ARMS18 with the GG&G EoTech QD mount to get to the irons fast.

However......I'm drifting to the Smith mount. The "see through" channel running lengthwise allows irons use whether an optic is mounted or not.

The TROY MSS gives alot of rail real estate, but how much do you need? I have the CJ Accessories STRIKER-14 which allows me to drop on my NF 2.5-10 or an EoTech on any position. But it adds weight. I use the Specter 1.5 inch webbing sling.

Thanks - I'm not a fan of folders much either, but I fell in love with this stock when I first handled one - so I had to get it.  It's a trade off for convenience - too much junk in the trunk and deploying out, so small is good.  It also has three rails ( one 9" on the bottom and two 4" on each side) that I use for the bipod, light and sling mount.

As for the cheek weld, it's a little off, but works fine mainly because the ACOG is such a user friendly scope.  It's plenty accurate for what it's designed for - and once I'm settled in, I switch to the bolt gun anyway.... I've been thinking of getting one of those Colt type attachments that go on top of the moving part of the stock that raise the cheek weld spot - anyone have experience good/bad with them???

Special request: Could you put that bad boy on a scale and tell us what it weighs with and without the Surefire M962, ARMS #18 and ACOG TA01B. Please keep a loaded 20 roung magazine in it for all weigh-ins.

Thank you sir.

H20 - I will certainly do that for you, but I'm a bachelor right now without a scale......so it's going to have to wait until I go into work tomorrow to hit the scales in the gym.....I'll post the results tomorrow night.
