I just recieved an M1 Garand from a family member and would like to know a little about it. I consider it in excellent condition. There is a little play between the stock and the action. It is a Springfield with a serial number that dates it made in April 1941. Is the action supposed to be tight in the stock? What should the worth be? I will try to post better pics. http://=52741299&index=2&album_id=4785282 |

I would like to keep it original. Would glass bedding deminish the value? I was thinking of getting a different stock just to take it out and shoot it. I am not new to guns but am extremely new to this type of weapon. I guess that I have a lot of research to do!! Any help and suggestions are apprecitate. http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/com.hp.HPLargeView?com=usUtil&awp=largeview3mbr.html&pict_id=52741299&index=2&album_id=4785282 |
| Yes glass bedding would diminish its value. Get a boyds stock for shooting. It will require some final inletting with a file, but will fit like a glove and shoot great. The alternative is the polymer ramline stock. Also a nice fit and then put it back in wood for showing. |
