My first M1 is on it's way.  I have "played" with the operating mechanism before on a friends unloaded M1 before.  I just have a silly question though.  Once you put in the en bloc clip, do you HAVE to shoot all the rounds or can you repeatedly pull the op rod and have them extract one at a time from the chamber if need be?

Thanks!

Pull the op-rod back, press that button on the left side of the reciever, Ka-ping!

Awesome... that will work.  I'm assuming when manually operating the op rod that the chambered round will be extracted as well?

I knew someone here would know ;)

Thanks!

if you pull the op rod back and hold it while pressing the button on the left side of the receiver the clip will eject, with remaining rounds still in it.  With some practice, you can do this with your hand over the receiver and catch them all in your hand.  Otherwise they all end up on the ground.

pulling the op rod will also eject and load rounds one at a time, like racking the slide on a handgun or using the charging handle on an AR
