I'm finally scoping my M1A.  The only experience I have with scoping a rifle is putting an ACOG on a AR, talk about EZ. I know there will be a little more to it when I scope my M1A and I need a little help from some guys with some experience. I plan on using an ARMS #18 and the scope I'm mounting is a Burris Fulfield II 3.5x10-50 LRS ballisic plex. Now, what I need to know is what type and size rings should I be looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Spend the money on a set of ARMS #22 QD rings.  That's what I'm in the process of doing with mine.  Have the scope permanently mounted now and I miss shooting the irons.  The ARMS #18 is a great mount, rock solid.  In the long run, you'll like to go back and shoot iron sights occaisionally.  M14 iron sights are the best IMO.  As expensive as M1As are, it's nice to get all the flexibility you can out of the rifle.  I'm eventually going to get an Aimpoint ML2 so I'll be able to have three configurations for the same rifle.

A good M1A is an absolute dream to shoot, so the more use you can get out of it the better.  Hell, before GWB leaves office, I hope to get a reconditioned 3rd Gen NV scope.  They're getting reasonable in price and the ARMS mount lends itself to this sort of use.

Hey man, thanks for the reply. I've been looking at so many ring my heads starting to hurt. I also enjoy irons but I'm going hunting in Alabama in January and I need to outfit one of my rifles for some possible long range work. I agree ARMS is the way to go. Thanks again.

I've been digging these lately.

They are Warne Maximum rings from Cabela's.
