What are the current prices for these? I bought one over the weekend for $495, wood is beat, but the metal is perfect. |

luck of the draw as far as condition goes. A rg barrel will gage over a 5 on TE or 3 on MW. A RG can also have a pit in the barrel with good TE/MW. SG can come from never issued to just about a RG. It just depends. I would personally go with the greek RG and spend the extra 100 or so dollars on a new barrel or ammo. Most of the RGs I have recieved from the CMP are iun really good shape and some hold a good group at 100 yards. |

I got a post war Springfield the wood is beat, receiver metal fantastic. The barrel interior is perfect. Strangely the outside of the barrel end and gas cylinder are pitted with a little rust on them. I wonder if it was owned by some cherry who got shot in Korea right out of the box. And ala, war movie, they buried him, and put his rifle into the ground barrel first. |
That gas cylinder isn't pitted. They all look like that. They are cast stainless steel that has been painted black. They're ugly right out of the cosmline. |
