Good morning M1A owners.  I'm new to the world of M1A shooters.  Any opinion can be weighed against another so I'm looking for opinions here.

Has anybody used magazines made by Westernhem
How about Thermoldhere

I only have one comment.  Stick with USGI or take your chances on getting a very crappy mag with all sorts of problems.

Besides, if you look around, you can find USGI mags for 20-25 dollars now that the ban expired.

Western, USA, Triple K are absolute garbage. Thermolds aren't much better. If you use them, you will end up hating your rifle. You spent good money on a good rifle. Don't use shitty magazines. Buy USGI Mags. The only other Mags that I can recommend are Chinese (Chi Com). Since recent imports have made genuine Chi Com M14 mags more difficult to indentify (for the novice), just stick with USGI. I haven't tried the Taiwanese.

I know this sounds stupid but what does USGI mean?

United States General Issue

Also, the Taiwanese mags you can find for under $15 works very well.  Only looks to have a 2% failure rate (follower issues) based on all the posts about them.

Thanks for the information.  I know there are more out there with more knowledge than me.  I'd hate to buy 20 or 30 garbage mags and get stuck with them and I guess if it's more money to get it right I'll spend the money.  Don't tell the wife though
