Hi there,

I am a new one here, and I just took delivery of a new SA M1A Standard.

I need some help with some basic markings. On the left side of the stock there is a cartouche that is square (maybe 1/2"x1/2") with what appears to be an eagle grasping two arrows. Above the eagle are three stars. Can anyone tell me what this means?

Also, on the right side of the rear sight there is a marking "BRW". I guess that this is the manufacturer?

Also, is it unusual for the Fire Control Group to be so difficult to remove? Or might it just be stiff? Or maybe I am doing something wrong?

Any assistance with the above will be appreciated greatly!

Thanks...

That's the Dept of Defense acceptance stamp.

Right, it's a Mfr code.  someone will tell you what it represents before I can look it up.

I take it by this you mean the trigger group?  Make sure the weapon is unloaded, then retract the bolt, cocking the hammer.  Release the bolt. Lift up and slightly back of the rear of the trigger guard.  Should come out with a little jiggling, unless the stock has swollen from oil and/or humidity.  Maybe it's time to get a synthetic stock from Fred's.

Any assistance with the above will be appreciated greatly!

Thanks...
