For a quality standard model, who would be the better choice. I know SA has been having issues, so  thats why I ask. This will be my first M14 so I want to try and get it right.

Cost aside, Fulton Armory will assemble a higher quality M1A/M14 rack grade rifle then Springfield Armory.  However, with some patience and research you could buy a standard model M1A and then accurize it yourself.

give lew tippie over at tippie competition a call. he is in the industry forums and one of our folks.

Also lew is the shit when it comes to high end m14/ar15's

I just had him build me one and i got considerably more rifle for the money than i could have gotten from SA or FA.

Fulton is better but they will take longer, and they build on your supplied receiver. SA's are a lot more plentiful.

Look around, there are lots of options, decide which are most important (cost, delivery time, grade, parts) to you.

Mike,

what was the platform for you build? Springfield or otherwise? What did you have Tippie do?  Do you know if he will work on a Norinco/Polytech Chinese receciver?

Thanks

i am having him build me one basically from scratch. Using usgi parts kit with a douglas barrell.

As for norincos the only thing i can say is ask him. Im him here < Tippie > or ask him in the tippie competion forum in the industry section.

he's a good guy and has a highpower resume that would kill you.

Tippie and FA are about the same cost-wise for AR services. FA has far more experience with M14's however. Tippie doesn't even post prices for M14 services.
