I am thinking of doing my first form 1 can and am stuck on how complex the design needs to be to submit it to the ATF? does it have to include the ends and internals? or is it more of a length shot with some dimensions on it?
thanks

No design required.  Just OAL.

Designs are only submitted for prototype firearms; your form 1 can is not a prototype.  There is no need to tell the ATF anything more than length and caliber.

You don't actually have to put the real length or caliber down either because no one is ever going to check

Will you be covering his attorney fees IF something were to happen ?  If not, do not give misinformation especially when it comes to NFA items.

You're correct in the fact that it's very unlikely anybody checks. The rest is just incorrect.

Keep the answers on track, or provide documentation to back it up...or stay out of the technical forums.

Buy/source the tube wherever you want. Send it to THSF for engraving. You won't regret it, and should have it back within about a week door-to-door.

Not exactly. If the finished length varies from what you originally put on the form you need to send them a letter. I would send it signature confirmation with return reciept and keep both the letter and the reciept with your forms. You will most likely never receive a response to your letter.

Ignore him as he is trolling.

The part in red is the truth. I sent a letter in once to advise of a barrel length change. I will not do that again, at least not for an SBR. If I have to shorten my can I will send a letter.

Took over a year before I heard anything and they wanted to know who I sold it too.

Replied back it was a private sale and they only need to be concerned with the serialized lower.

I know they are not all stupid but damn.
