Ever since the airgun forum went live here I have enjoyed reading each and every thread that comes up. I don't have an airgun YET, but a good basic plinker is going to be in my future. However it had completely slipped my mind that there was a pellet gun at home that I hadn't handled in years! So over the weekend I went home to visit my parents and check out the pellet gun that was in our "random stuff" gun cabinet. I never liked shooting it when I was little because it was too tough to cock, I'm thirty five now and it was always around as far as I remember, my dad is in his late sixties and he doesn't remember if he or my grandfather bought the thing!
So it is marked BSF Junior, Made in Germany West. A plain, light colored stock that reminds me of beech in .177. I was so excited to shoot it, then I realizes that we only had .22 pellets in the house! So it is going to have to wait till next time to shoot it and see if it is as accurate (compared to childhood memories versus my old BB gun) as I remember. In the me antime, does anyone have some first hand on these? Relative quality, power and accuracy expectations? I WAS going to bring it out to the burbs to play with but it just didnt feel right taking it off the farm.... Yet at least! |
| Normally, I wouldn't suggest oiling an airgun, but in this case, it might not be a bad idea to track down some RWS chamber oil and put a drop or two into the compression cylinder (through the hole behind the pellet). Don't overdue it, but if the gun has been sitting for years, it may be a bit dry. |

Not sure if you can access this without joining the forum, but here's a thread about the BSF Junior from the Vintage Airguns Forum:
