I just  (literally) picked up a Scout for a deer hunt and I don't have alot time to hit the range before the trip.
My schedule will only give me about an hour or two of range time never mind reloading any home brew.
My problem is even though I have tons of componets to reaload with I only have a few boxes of loaded ammo.
I know every rifle shoots different and finding / tailoring a load to your rifle is the ideal situatation, but as I stated time is short.

I am going to use either some Ted Nugent 165 gr TTSX or Winchester 185 gr Power Point .
My home state only allows shot gun so my rifle hunting load experience is nill.
Any suggestions as to what would be a better deer round?

I'm sure either will do fine. I'd take whichever the gun shoots better.

I've found soft points to be the best for small to average sized deer in my area (lead core hollow points and ballistic tips can be pretty explosive and ruin a lot of good meat), but with that said, I've yet to use a solid copper bullet on one.

I know that doesn't help much, but as long as your shot placement is good, I think both of those you mentioned should do the job just fine without destroying all the surrounding meat.
