I am planning on getting in my paperwork for an AR15 SBR. I have two questions regarding how to answer two questions on the eforms;

1) What do I put for the OAL? I plan on running a 10.5" barrel on a standard mil-spec lower with a Magpul CTR stock. (I don't have the CTR stock in hand to measure the length myself)

2) For caliber I heard you can no longer list "Multi", I am planning on running a 10.5" 300 blackout upper. So do I put "300", ".300", or  ".300 Blackout" for the caliber box?

Thank you for your help.

I know that there is a basic formula for estimating OAL on AR rifles (Barrel length + X" = OAL) but I don't know it off the top of my head.  You will probably have more luck asking these questions or just poking around for the answers in the SBR specific forum.

AR15.com -> Armory -> Short Barreled Rifles (SBR)

Good luck!

I am not sure on the OAL. I filed my 300 BLK as a 7.62.

I have two 300 BLK SBRs.  The caliber for the Form 1 is 300.  The OAL for a 10.5 barrel with CTR stock extended is 29 inches (excluding muzzle device).  I also have a 7.62x39 SBR and that one is listed as just 7.62.   These were the caliber options available using efroms.

I just did one. Its a 9" bcm barrel and stock. Overall was 27". My dealer put .30 as the caliber. He said they do not associate with 300 black. He put .30

The formula for finding OAL is barrel length plus 19 inches. If you Efile, which I strongly suggest, the drop down box for caliber will have an option for 300 BO. Also like stated above, we have a SBR forum!

I'm pretty sure the instructions say to not use a decimal point unless it's in between numbers i.e.. 5.56 or 7.62

Things like .308 or .223 would be just 308 and 223 respectively

For instance, on my form for .300 blk I put "308" and for measurement I put "caliber". According to Ted Clutter "inch" would also be acceptable for fractional calibers

Would 7.62 be acceptable for the caliber description?

Yes.

300 or 7.62 (not the 300 BO that was mentioned earlier. (And barrel + 19" works just fine)

Well, I'm just saying. I had my class 3 dealer fill mine out. He knows his stuff. We didn't do it electronically, but I remember he put .30 cal. He said they do not recognize 300 blackout. Or he woulda put it on there.

Also, mine measured 27" with a 9" barrel. Not sure where you come up with 19" plus barrel. That wouldn't work in my case.

They'll recognize it. . Paper forms allow you to use quite a few options that will crash eForms.

(And the 19" is just a general rule for people that have no idea. Your exact combo could be different, but not enough to worry about)
