| I have an 11.5" upper that should show up any day now. Gas port is drilled out to .068-.070 and I will be ordering either a H2 or H3 buffer and a Sprinco red or blue spring. My question is, I will be using the same lower to run my 14.5" middy. Will the new spring and buffer cause any issues or will they run both without issue? |

My question is, I will be using the same lower to run my 14.5" middy. Will the new spring and buffer cause any issues or will they run both without issue? Depends on the gas port on the middy. I know Daniel Defense recommends running a H buffer in their 14.5" set ups. I would try an H2 and standard spring for both. This might give you the sweet spot of reliability and parts abuse between the two uppers. That being said, i've never played with an 11.5" although I am really liking the Knights right now. I do have a 10.3" and am hoping to get an H2 for it soon. I'd be a little weary about messing with the spring rates for the 14.5" upper. I ran an H2 on a 16" middy to see how it would shoot. Shot amazing smooth... Short stroked on occasion though. Just gave my sister a 14.5" FN barrel build. Ran standard carbine buffer in it and it ran perfectly. Might be worth try just an H buffer unless thats what you already have. my .02 |

I'm running a H buffer with standard spring now. Runs great, but with the 11.5 I'm worried a bit. It will be ran 50/50 suppressed and not suppressed. Not sure what BCM does on their mid length gas port size. I will either change springs and buffers every time I change my upper or build a new lower down the line so each is complete. Money is tight right now due to shoulder surgery and being off work for a few more months. Hopefully someone has some solid advice for me.
Hell, there may not be a way to keep both uppers running well with all the variables, but I thought it was worth asking. |

Depends on the ammo you run, as well.
Some people have found, myself included, that middies tend to be more sensitive to weak ammo (Tula and the like). While an H2 or 3/BLUE would be perfect for the SBR, I would start with an H or H2/standard to accommodate the middy; the middy might handle a BLUE with full power ammo. |

as MrFrZZ said above i think a good starting point would be the h2 and a standard spring , should run good in both set ups. my 11.5" bcm barreled upper runs fine suppressed or not with a standard spring and h2 buffer. my BCM 11.5 runs great with or without m4-2000 with standard spring and spikes T2 buffer during break in i had some failure to feed without can. now have about 1600 rds thru it and it eats everything from brown bear to black hills |
