| Is it best to be on the safe side and wait to have the lower engraved until the stamp comes back approved? |
|
You should have it engraved before you submit the Form 1.
That way, if the engraver screws up your name/location or the lower gets lost, you can get things fixed or replace the lower and you aren't out time and potentially $200. You should also build and shoot the lower to make sure there aren't any issues with it. |

I have already built the lower into a pistol to test, and it runs great....just wasn't sure if I should wait on engraving just in case the ATF doesn't like the way I submitted my trust name. I have heard sometimes they want "the" in front of it, or the fact that i submitted my trust name in lower case only capitalizing the first letters could be a problem too. Anyone know if any of this really makes a difference? One reason I ask, is that when I submitted my paper form, I wrote in the trust name in caps and lower case, and then when I submitted my efile, it automatically made the trust name all caps... |

I've never heard of them being that particular. I've never specified with Ident either. I doubt anyone will ever ask to even see the engraving. My trust is called XXX Trust Anytown, OH. It is engraved XXX TRUST ANYTOWN, OH Ok, cool...thanks for the info...Looks like once I get home, I will be sending my lowers off.... ETA: I just looked at my trust also, and the way it is written is as follows : shall be known as the XXX NFA TRUST XXX being my last name of course So "the" looks to me like it is not part of the actual trust name, so I should be good. |
