A Form 1 is for making an NFA firearm. Either from raw material or an already made Title I firearms.
A Form 4 is the taxed transfer of an existing NFA firearm. What form you use is entirely dependant on the origin of your SBR. If you make an NFA firearm from a Title I firearm it needs to be engraved with makers markings (IE: Your name and location). The only reason a factory SBR doesn't need additional engraving is because it is already has those markings on it (IE: Colt Firearms, Hartford, CT) As for "knowing what firearms you have" if you register your SBR they have knowledge of that firearm, not all of them. |
