Mine had a 5" barrel when I first built it.

It was fun but didn't seem like a legit training rifle so I changed it to an 11.5" barrel.

With a can it's about the same length as a 16" carbine.

This is my 5".  Has a G5-22 attached.

Taccom makes a wonderful 4.5" upper. :-)

So, are you guys just building these uppers, and using a Ciener or however you spell it to convert to 22lr?
I would actually rather build my own, just not sure where to get barrels and conversion stuff.

Taccom makes a great 4.5". I think now they are sell everything you need separately as well.   I really like their new upper receiver design.

Yup.  CMMG dedicated bolt and a modified Spikes LW barrel.

It is no problem changing the rail out on the Taccom upper.

I built mine. It started as a 6.5" CMMG barrel. I had redtazdog cut it down to 4.5" to keep most ammo subsonic.

nice rifles...
So what parts does one need to do one of these?
An upper, barrel, and 22lr bolt assembly? What is this barrel collar thing I am reading about? Iwant to do a dedicated 22lr upper.
Was going to SBR my 1022, and just decided I had rather do one of these instead.
Thanks for any info.

Can you tell me exactly which upper that is?

Also, is that a 7" rail? It's similar to what I'm working on. Thanks

That is the new Taccom dedicated 22 upper with their 4.5" barrel.  I just had Tim do the build for me, and when I got it I put a 7" rail on it.  Taccom also uses a lo-pro DPMS design, but I really like their new one a whole lot more.

Just buy a TACCOM or CMMG dediacted 22 upper and have the barrel cut to 4.5" by ADOC.  Add the hand-guard and suppressor of your liking.

This thread caught my interest, then I realized that my SBR is the only rifle I have used my ceiner kit......

I don't run my can with it because it is a sealed unit.

So? I have a 16 inch CMMG and a 7 inch TACCOM.

They both get way more use than either my 7.5, 11.5 or 14.5 sbr uppers.

Cool, what HG(s) will work w/ a SS Sparrow?
I have a pretty good stash of Sub ammo, was thinking about going w/ a 6" barrel. Comments?

Just about every handguard will fit a 1" OD suppressor.  If i was you, id get the barrel cut to 4.5".  THat keeps regular ammo subsonic, and with sparrow attached, looks nice under a 7" handguard.

I see you got your parts.  I like the look of TACCOM New uppers.  I am planning a 12.5" 22 training upper and I will be using TACCOM parts.

Yep I finally got it.  My upper got lost in the shuffle, and I got really busy and didn't have time to follow up.  Once I got around to contacting Tim everything was ready to roll.  I will probably do another .22 at some point and just buy parts from Taccom now that everything is an option.  I really like their enhanced parts. on their bolt assembly.

If you don't want to pay to get the barrel cut, Beyer barrels has 4.5" barrels.  I just put mine together.  Just need sights now.

I built my own, it's easy. Best way might be to buy an upper complete with bolt, disassemble then add the parts you want. I built a 10.5" commando style with an A2 upper and an 8" with midlength YHM handguard. I'll post pics when photobucket comes back.

I really want to build a .22 dedicated sbr upper too!  It's too bad the cmmg .22 ss bolt group is so hard to find right now, as well as redtazdog is currently not offering any of his 4.5" barrels at the moment...
