Has anyone had to remove NFA engraving from a AR-15 lower receiver?  Just would like to know how you did it or what did you use.  I have a friend who wants to sell me a lower receiver with his name and location engraved.  It was never registered, just plans fell through.  I have the opportunity to buy it off him with the engravings.  He sent the lower off to Ident to get it engraved where the trigger is at.

I'd just leave it on.  It's going to look strange to have it ground off, and it'll look like filed down serial numbers to idiots who don't know what to look for.

That is, unless he had something foolish like He-Man Woman Hater, LLC, engraved on the side.

If it is just in the trigger area I would not bother with it.

How about DURAFIL? That might work.

Have you used it before on an application similar to mine?  I googled it and read up about it on Brownell's site, seems legit.  If it is too much of a headache then I guess I'll just leave it be.

According to this page on Orion Engraving, they have a deal with these guys, who can fill in your engraving. No idea how much it costs, but I can't imagine it's terrible.

Fill it in with a black crayon and rub off the excess with a paper towel.  It will practically disappear.  If it is underneath the trigger guard area, it isn't worth trying to remove.  No one but you will ever notice it.

Sorry, I haven't used it before. But if you go with it, let us know how it works out.
