I am planning a SBR Build when I return from this deployment. I just want to make sure I do everything in the correct order. Please give me any suggestions/advice you see fit.
First I'm going to order the stripped lower, so I will have to serial number to submit on the paperwork. Then, I'm going to start ordering the rest of the parts for the build, except the barrel. Can I go ahead and assemble the lower and have it ready for the upper. I was planning on ordering the barrel when I received the approved paperwork back and finish the rifle. This is my first build, and I definitely want to do everything right. Thanks, SGT Stevens |

Why not assemble your AR as a pistol? That way you can test the platform while waiting for your stamp to come back. This helps you make sure there are no bugs in your build.
This advice, of course, only applies if your state doesn't have funny laws surrounding AR pistols. |

This is definitely a good option since you would want to function check and make sure everything is in spec prior to engraving and submitting the form 1. It would suck if you found out after the fact and pretty much have a worthless lower. Given the fact that AR parts are getting harder and harder to find, I would buy the parts and keep the barrel at a friend or relative's house that doesn't own an AR.. |

I live in Texas though, Land of the Free. |
| Thanks guys. I live in Mississippi, and we don't have any crazy gun laws. I may go ahead and build the pistol. That does raise another question though. If I have a short barrel on a pistol configuration in my range bag with my rifle, can I get in trouble becuase they could easily be swapped to create a SBR? |
