Forgive my ignorance, but Ive got a question regarding the 11.5 upper. Ive got a registered Seekins Precision Lower collecting dust in my closet, and have yet to decide what upper I want to buy to put on it.
Came across an 11.5 Colt Upper on GUNBROKER, and was wondering what its all about. Why the 800 Price tag, other than name? Anyone got any experience, in this vs a basic BCM for a light weight gun? Also, anyone know where or how one can be ordered from colt, for possible price improvement? Thanks 0311 |

Colt will not sell them to the public, or to their regular distributors –– they may only be ordered through LE distributors. The resulting relative scarcity is why the price is so high.
I wanted one NIB about 18 months ago for my Colt M16A1 and the best price I could find then was $1,100. But the same dealer had complete factory 6933 SBRs for $1,400, so I bought the complete gun and got the factory SBR lower for another $300 (worth it just for the "M4 LE" rollmark). I like Colt uppers, and all of mine have the pony. Not going to get into a discussion of whether they are the best, but I like 'em, and since all of my ARs and 16s are factory Colt ....

thanks again, but I think i'll just forgo clogging the System with that at this point, and just find the upper on Gunbroker... like i said, I got a 300 dollar lower, with a 200 dollar stamp sitting on a shelf. With that being said? Good upper? You can always buy the complete gun and have your ffl remove the lower from the registry. That way it can be sold as a title 1 lower meaning no tax. You should be able to get your money back plus some and you have a new upper that you know is not a take off or anything. That or have the ffl sell the lower and form 3 or form 4 it away. |
