I have a Weaver Tactical 2-10 scope. The windage turret retainer brass screw broke and I need a replacement. I was able to successfully extract the broken threaded section with no issues but now I need another screw. Weaver can replace it, but they won't send me a replacement part, I have to ship it back and that'll cost around $20.00 for shipping with insurance. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know of a source for custom items like this? It's a 5 second repair and if I'm going to pay for it I'd rather do it myself vs. risking shipping the scope and waiting 6 weeks. Here's a picture:

Send the scope back and let them repair it.

The reason, the scope needs to be re-nitrogen flushed and charged to remove any moisture in it from when the turret bolt was removed, so it does not fog up.

SS, not brass, but you can probably find one that matches

But as Dano said, if the nitrogen has escaped, it needs to go back.

Thanks for the replies. No gas escaped, the screw attaches to the underlying brass adjustment knob. It is all external, just there to retain the telescoping windage turret.

Edit: McMaster has every variation possible, it seems. I just need to measure the thread pitch and I should be set.

A friend of mine has a machine shop. He said it would run his minimum charge to make one, plus materials.

That's right around $80.00.

After ITAR takes effect, that would likely be around $100.00.

might as well buy a small micro lathe and make it yourself...

Or even a drill press can be used. It's not going to be pretty but you can turn a part to the shape and use a die to make the threads. It depends on how precise it must be.

It may even pay to get a X2 mill to make that part (you can turn small metal pieces on a mill by mounting the brass rod in the spindle and clamp a lathe tool bit in a mill vise)
