I looked in the pinned threads and didn't see what I was looking for, so here goes...

I'd like to buy a decent set of punches, bits, etc. I'd like for everything to be contained in one or two kits if possible. What are you guys using that gives good service?

I don't do anything major. I'll be putting together lowers, working with muzzle devices and gas blocks, etc.

Thanks for the recommendations.

For ARs and modern firearms using roll pins:

Roll pin punches  (Got mine from Brownells).
Roll pin starter punches (ditto above)
Bolt hold open punch (it's partially round but flat on one side) (ditto above - from Brownell's)

Don't know the name of the punches, but their shanks are about 3" long!  I'd look into those for regular steel punches.  Sometimes my Mayhew punches (bought back in the early '80s) aren't long enough.

Brass punches (good to avoid marring the workpiece - remove brass marks with Hoppe's).
