I have a LaRue QD scout mount that is apparently permattached to a Surefire M600 body. The two Allen head screws that hold the mount and light body together are seized. I have tried alternately freezing the mount and heating with a propane torch but I am right at the point of stripping the Allen key holes in the screw heads. I know that red loctite was not used although the blue stuff most likely was. Any suggestions on getting these small screws out without trashing either the LaRue mount or the light body? Thanks.

Micro Grabit extractors have yet to fail me.  Link is here:  https://antnyc.sharepoint.com/Pages/micrograbit4kit.aspx

You can find these at Sears.  I have used them on scope mounts, stock bolts, and even broken screws in my son's Subaru transmission.

Are you sure they were Allen/hex and not splined/torx?

Yes, I'm pretty sure they're Hex. I don't have a Torx key that small but I had several Hex keys fit perfectly (before the shoulders started to give way). I was almost at the point of breaking the Hex keys trying to torque the screws out. I can hardly fathom that regular blue loctite would cause this so it may be a case dissimilar metal corrosion.

Thanks. I'll give these a try.

1) Heat the screw to ensure any loctite breaks down
2) Soak in acetone to dissolve any loctite residue
3) Apply generous amounts of penetrating oil

Do the above then hit it with a wrench/screw remover.

If that fails.  Drill off the heads

save some money on the grabits. All you need is this one to get out stuck mount screws. Worked like a charm for me today.

Thanks. The Micro-Grabit kit I had ordered came in this weekend and it worked using the bit that fit the stripped hex key hole. I was amazed that the screws popped loose so easily when they wouldn't budge using the hex key.

I think they are Torx.

Regardless, what's worked best for me is a bit in a screwdriver attachment.
That way you can bear down on the bit/screw at the same time you try to back it out, without canting to the side.

Told ya!  They are an essential piece in any gunsmiths tool kit.  I have never had extractors that worked as well as those.  And no, I don't work for the manufacturer.
