So I have a couple of Turk mausers that I got back when TAPCO had their sale 6 or 7 years ago least 1 of and I want to turn at least 1 of them into a decent hunting rifle with a heavy barrel. They are all missing parts so I don't feel too bad about it.
I am wanting to have 1 chambered in 6.5x284 and 1 in 25-06 and basically am curious as to how much it's going to set me back to have a smith do it. |
| For the 6.5-284 you are going to have work on the rails in the Mauser Action and also the follower. I built one on a 98 and it is a lot of work. I don't think it is worth doing that to a mauser. If you want a long range rifle I would look at some commercial actions. Now the mausers are good for build pretty hunting rifles. |
