Just won an Ebay auction for a NIB original Will Burt Versa Vise. I've had a chinese copy of this vise for a while and have been wanting to pick up an original. Just couldn't pass this one up! Doesn't look to bad for a 50+year old vise

Usually the originals are pretty beat up. It boggles my mind that Brownells wants $300 for this type of vise and I've read reviews that they are no better that the $$50 chinese made copies.  There is another listed that is in great used condition if anyone else has been looking for one. The reserve was set at $150 but I see they have lowered it to $100. It ends in a few days.
ETA: just checked again and it looks like they lowered the reserve again to $90 and it ends in 4 days. May be a good buy for anyone interested. |
The vise showed up today and it looks just as good as it did in the pic Hell, even the original cardboard box was in like new condition. This was a great find and worth every penny! In my opinion this is the best vise available for gunsmith work. The Shop Fox, which is the reproduction that I've been using, is really just as good but I have a thing for vintage American made tools. For anyone interested, the Shop Fox is available from Midway USA for around $45. Now I'm off to make me up a set of leather padded vise blocks.
