The Arisaka is a very simple bolt design and the rear safety knob is quick to operate.

The 6.5-257 was a very popular wildcat, but they usually were rechambered military barrels. I would take a chamber casting.

Not a bad price, if you like inlet, glass bed, finish your own stocks.

Took a class in stockmaking in college and still have all the gouges, scrapers that we had to make etc. It should be a fun project.  I want to do a boyds laminated. Will be doing a chamber cast soon. it has a 25 caliber barrel  that's why I'm thinking it's .257 roberts.

They used to take 0.257" bullets and drop them down the muzzle of mil-surp 6.5mm's to see how much the bore was worn.

The Boyd's stock is nice, but heavy and oversized (IMO) for such a trim action. Do not fear the rasp, become one with it!

PS Brownells suggested a Weaver #70, which is Weaver's suggested Arisaka base. thank god I had the foresight to measure one at a local shop  BEFORE I bought it the hole spacing is 0.65" and 3.68" Well  at least I didn't waste time/money aggravation their Tech expert didn't look up hole spacing just the Action make.
This time I e-mailed Leopold direct with hole spacing and Receiver dia. ONLY. I been waiting three days now for a reply tic-toc

It was drilled to accept a scope base.
