I have a High Standard H D Military (148xxx) that was my Grandpa's  that has been sitting in my gun cabinet for many years. It's in reasonable shape but obviously needs a new recoil spring.  So since I needed a winter project I decided to see if I can get this thing running.  I have taken the slide apart as far as I can comfortably do without suggestions.  I loosened the rear screw and took out the bottom screw to remove the firing pin.  That looks ok, but may replace if its suggested.  I pushed out the 2 pins from the bottom of the slide and am trying to figure out how to get the recoil spring out from there.  Any help or suggestions about this gun would be great!

I own one too..that needs some work.

Mine functions fantastic..but has a trigger pull so light..it's just scarey...

Need to take it apart and see just what's up with the .0002 pound trigger pull(so light..you can just touch the trigger and set it off).

I found my answer on another site.  I had the right idea, just needed a little more power.  I took the recoil spring out and it was all bent to hell.  Found a spring kit at Brownells for it and have it coming, but in the mean time i played with the spring and straightend it a bit, put it back together and by God it worked.  The only hickup was that it didn't set the hammer fully on every shot.  Ejected and loaded every time but only fully set the hammer about 50% of the time.  Shot like a dream otherwise!  Hopefully the spring kit will take care of this.  Glad I played with it since its the only gun I have from my Grandpa, its good to have it running again...
