I'm making a new striker for my semi-Sten, what is the best steel to use, A2 or D2 tool steel?

Thank you

A2 would probably work fine, but you might be better off going with one of the S series shock resistant steels.

D2 is harder to work with and will be more prone to crack at any sharp corners. It's intended for high wear applications.

I would reccomend that you use S 7  This is what i use to make hammer and trigger pins for my M1-A.  S7 is an ideal tool steel  for high impact applications.
