I've got an M48 Yugo Mauser that I had to have rebarreled, and the new barrel is just about 5 thousandths too short, so it needs to be finish reamed.  I actually have the 8x57 PTG finish reamer.  My dad, who is a machinist, claims this step can be done by hand, as I don't need to cut much.

Well, I've been screwing with it this evening, and I don't have any hand tools that can get a good grip on this damned thing.  I can turn it by hand some, but my headspace gauge is clearly telling me I ain't cutting shit.  What kind of tools do you need to grab this thing good and properly and get a decent cut going?

I'm leary of taking it to a local smith.  Most of the smith around here are, to put it blunty, retards.  I don't trust them with my rifle or reamer.

Go buy a tap wrench.

Use cutting oil, too.

If the bbl is off of the receiver, all you need is a tap handle/wrench from any hardware store.  If its on the receiver, you'll need an extension.

Brownells and Midway have them.
