The Rem 5R has a great reputation for being very accurate out of the box. I am wondering if it would benifit from a bedding job.

The stock is what it came with from Remington. Except for adjusting the trigger over travel and pull down to 2.5 lb it is just like it came out of the box.
Scope is a Leupold Mk4 6.5 - 20 mounted on a Badger 20 MOA base and std height rings. It has 586 rounds down the barrel so far. My groups, 5 shot, typically between run around .75 and .9 MOA. Some are better, down to the .5s but not many. This is with 42.9 grns Varget, SMK 168s, Lapua neck turned brass, Federal 210 match primers. This load was worked up using Dan Newberry's OCW method. The bullets are seated .025" off the lands. Don't know how much is me, the loads, or something else. I already have the Devcon and neutral KIWI along with plenty of masking tape and plenty of time so it would be a low cost project to do a bedding job. I don't know of any downside to doing a bedding job, but there is a lot I don't know. Thanks for asking. OFG |
